It was touched on just above in that all GTPs be DNA tested and those not proven 100% aussie be destoryed. That way we know they are aussies and not supporting smuggling by keeping their stock. IMO I see no difference in keeping overseas GTPs and say cornsnakes. People get attacked for keeping exotics yet congratulated for GTPs that are clearly exotic. BTW Im not attacking anyone just food for thought. |

Question 2 I have no idea about & you raise a very good point about Wilson's collected DNA. I would be happy to pay extra for a DNA "proven" Aussie animal.

Who would you be aiming to impress? That's half the battle IMO Quote:

Right........and who exactly would be competent enough to carry this out? Boy, I'd hate to be the one going through an euthanizing someones 5k purchase!
Not a criticism, just what I think |

In NSW there are only 100s of class 2 licenses, (required for gpt's and rsps), out of 10s of 1000s of all classes licenses. We sold all our albino carpets easily but gtps ad rsps are a little slower. I think thats because of the smaller market because of the much smaller number of class two licenses out there. It seems most people intend to breed and so want pairs. I expect gtps will end up being sold as sexed yearlings for much the same price as unsexed hatchoes were sold in the past. The same with albino olives; This season pairs move out the door quickly but with only single sexes available now, people want to wait until next year for a pair. | | | |
