Got My Babies

hi everyone,

well i got two maccs on the weekend unrelated boy and girl, the girl called M (she has a smiley face on her head so M is short for emoticon) tried to eat my brother today and i had a hard time prying her off him, all the while ******* myself laughing and glad that it wasn't me. (my brother is 15 and almost 6 foot, so no harm done)

i was amazed that she was hungry again as she was only fed on friday but I think she has been a little bit underfed, and she had done a poo so i hope it was alright to feed her again.

i got them from Bruce Riddel in brisbane. he was great and spent about an hour with me telling me about them and he let me watch them feed, he also let me hold a full grown mac and a childreini, it was so great and i can't wait for mine to grow up.

just thought i would let you all share in my joy

Congrats on your new additions Aviendha,
If they ever try and eat you, or your brother again, the best way to get them off, is by putting your hand (and the snake) in cold water and they will relies the grip on you pretty quick.
Cheers

Is it common for childreni, macs and stimsoni to latch on and try to eat your finger, because my first python, a mac, did this regularly, it wasnt a defensive bite more of a feeding response thing.

cheers

A good way to get them to release there grip is to softly blow into their face and nine times out of ten they will let go. You can damage your snake by trying to pry it off your finger or whatever.

thanks guys

especially for the tips to get them off my finger, as i was really worried that i was going to hurt her.

the funniest thing is as soon as i took the lids off the the lunch boxes i bought then home in, she climbed in the box with my little boy and curled up next to him and stayed in there untill she was ready to go exploring again. Each time she always comes back to his box.

i think it is really funny as snakes aren't suppose to care about companionship, they looks so cute, curled up side by side.

I havn't needed to ask any questions cause you guys and Bruce were so good as telling me what i needed to do thanks again everyone, i feel very confident in provding the care my bubs need.

SB

p.s my boy hasn't been exploring yet, i think he is still digesting the huge pinkie rat he ate on friday lol.

oh yeah Bruce wanted me to ask if anyone else wants a juv maccie as he is trying to sell them. he has a few other species as well i think.

Where is Bruce located Aviendha?
If he is in Melbourne I would be interested in taking a look at a few, when were they born?
