Simon is right. "Jaguar" phase coastal carpets. There are probably 20 different looking color/pattern variations that are decendents of the one snake. All of them look great if you ask me. Saw these guys for sale on kingsnake.com, and figured I'd let everyone drool like me. If I could swing it, I'd buy a pair today, but just ain't going to happen at that price. Maybe someday.

Almaron,
You really shouldn't tease us out here in Oz, just because we haven't got any Jags out here dosen't mean you should rub our noses in it ! LOL!
Nice looking snakes though, a couple of friends in the UK have them, have yet to breed them though!

Jaguars aren't cross breds, they're a color phase of coastal.

Just a genetic hicup, most of the ones you see now have been selectively bred for years so they are very nice.

I just had a look at the site Bendragon posted and looked at the pics.
those piebald ball pythons look interesting.
that guy seems to like them. to me they look like a snake gone wrong.
I think an all white snake would look alright but not those ones.
is it possable to get those sort of snakes naturaly? out in the wild?

First, yes piebald are a naturally occuring mutation. Of course they are selectively bred for it from then on, to bring it out more. As far a the jaguar line, noone is right, they aren't a hybrid. They are just a random color/pattern gene mutation. There is nothing you could do to "make" one so to speak. Well, maybe you could expose coastal eggs to gamma rays or some other mutagen, but don't try that.
As far as rubbing everyones noses in it, don't feel too bad. You guys probably have more stuff I want, but can't get, than the other way around. You want to talk about an awsome mutation, that I'd kill to have, check out the albino olives. You guys also have the only known albino carpet. I have a feeling that more and more of these cool mutations will crop up eventually there. It's just one of those random things that happen. If "jaguars" can just suddenly show up in Europe, they can do the same in Oz. I think it's just a matter of time, and odds. The more reptile keepers there are, the more likely it will happen.
And anyway, we both have the same chance of getting one of these jaguar carpets. Slim to none.
