I know SOMEONE sold their adult trio of GTP's late last year for around $80,000. I don't think it was anyone who has bred them, though.

I would be careful buying greens because of this anmesty, i was lined up to buy two off a breeder in sydney but when i got the letter about the exotic amnesty i decided to wait.
With out bringing up all the past agruements about them, theres only one line in the country that is legal to keep, as yet no other breeders have that on their side so be careful who you buy from.

I think Roy Pails was selling hatchling for someone, i don't think he bred them.

URS aren't selling those Fuscus, if he had a dollar for everyone that offered to buy them, well! It would add up to as much as a snake! LOL!

I think it would need some real justification before npws go through all the court cases again. Evidence exists they cannot tell the difference between the aussies or png ones, would they go to court to have it told to them again?
Breeders who have sold gtps as australian have them on their paperwork as australian, npws need to prove otherwise. They can't.

There are only 17 gtp keepers in nsw, surely if npws were serious about stamping out exotic gtps - all these people would have been before the courts. Especially the guys selling offspring! They dont need an amnesty to tell them this or justify it - if the amnesty was for exotic gtps, what govt person thought keepers would volunteer them!!!!!!!
Govt depts are a lot more accountable today and not full of jack o'sheas on personal missions. (what was his goal?)
The big 'scare' is from the people trying to profit.

Imagine the job npws will have if they wait 5 years and the animals are fairly readily available and inter-bred, they will have to dna 100's of animals costing up to $1000 each to dna. Already 94 animals in nsw thats a lot of money to justify already.

Stevo, im just quoting figures someone posted re: nsw.
there are 17 keepers with 94 animals.
up 30 from last season. In 2 years the numbers should start accelerating faster.

..and increased demand will undoubtably push the prices even higher than they are I'd imagine.

Hi all thought that I should drop in and give a quick comment about GPT's. I will try and keep it brief because I do not have the time to spend sitting in front of this computer very busy here.

The Adelaide museum now has a very large GTP DNA bank, they are able to tell the diffrenct locations the GTP come from. There is a very big diffrence in there DNA. I think that it is only a matter of time before NPWS start taking a bit of skin or scale from some of these pythons with the amount of talk there has been about them.

The museum here all so I am lead to believe is doing a lot of work on reptile DNA and I think some people who might be under investigation
at some time in there life will have DNA testing done on there reptiles to prove that they have bred them.

That's all from me and best wish to you.
Regards from URS
