G'day all.
My first post, and my first herp forum signup
I have one carpet python, Moo http://www.aussiepythons.com/modules...view_album.php posted reciently by a new friend of mine, on this very forum.
I've had Moo for about two years now, she's done very well, and I'm happy that I've had no hickups along the way (so far)
Moo is my loved and prized pet, given as a present by Wrasse (hehe she couldn't help but spread the joy of herps )
I started out knowing very little and have picked up needed info along the way (mostly via Wrasse who I'll ever be thankfull too )
if you check out my homepage
(*EDIT* oops, I've just checked and realised I'd removed all the snake pics, I'll have to upload them all again.. *sigh* silly me! it's all computer stuff atm, but feel free to have a look anyway I'm into some pretty serious modifications and crazy schemes hehe )
you'll see quite a few pics of the housing I built/modified for Moo, and a few snapshots, mostly out of date I'm afraid, Computers take up most of my time, along with rat breeding and various other projects, but Moo is ALWAYS taken care of, and is in prime position at the entry of my house, so she gets seen several dozen times a day (helps make sure her cage is clean and such)
I can't display any new pics atm as my (on loan) camera's power supply died just the other day
but hopefully I'll have a new one, or a modified one built to get up and running again
as to the computers, I build, repair, maintain and pretty much heaps of other related things as a main hobby, being that I've suffered (quite badly I might add) from CFS *chronic fatigue syndrome* for the last 4 years now, and into the fifth.
this horrible affliction has made it pretty much impossible to even hold a part time job, as I suffer all too often from quite serious pains and fatigue, I've also late last year, been diagnosed with mild Narcolepsy, so am on some pretty serious medication to *help* control it, also adding to inability to work (it's basically medical grade speed, has some *interesting* side effects )
but don't feel sorry for me, as I'm not, it's what I've been delt to deal with, and I get on as best I can (all too usually pusing myself WAY beyond my limits and causing myself much greef)
I'm stubborn to a fault in regards to "keep on trucking" and I'll never give in
so hopefully you'll welcome me with open arms and give me a little leeway till I get my feet here
Note:
Up until reciently, I had believed Moo was a cross breed, but have been informed this is not so, but rather some clever work by a uni proffessor, I'm still a little vague on the details, but I'll fill in what I know as I know it
I'm very interested to find out who she came to have such "different" markings to most carpets.
and I'm sure the breeder would be interested to see how well she's done (at least I hope so)

i still think shes a xbreed look at the foto's her eyes and her head markings dont belong on a coastal they belong on a jungle
you cant get a snake to develop features that are indicitive of another species regardless of how you incubate them

AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHh
Poo is NOT a crossbreed.
(Hi Recharge, btw )
After the whole crossbreed issue came up I started digging into her past and since managed to locate the breeder. He works for the University of Queensland and is involved in the reptile study/research area. Yes, I was told his name, No, I am not going to repeat it.
Suffice to say he is a staunch supporter of the no crossbreed policy and I was assured, if Poo was a crossbreed, he would have knocked her on the head himself.
I didn't ask about special ways she 'may' have been incubated and that information wasn't offered. I don't belive there is anything 'special' about this snake, it is just a carpet python with unusual markings. I am sure, if she was 'special' in any way, she wouldn't have been released for sale.
No offence Recharge, you know I love Poo dearly, yes, she is magnificent, yes she is spoiled rotten, but she is a normal carpet python and always has been.
Kenshin, you are welcome to pop round and see my coastals, totally different stock to Poo and all carrying the same markings as she does, one way or the other. In fact, one is so similar, Recharge keeps mistaking it for his own snake and keeps trying to take it home.
In fact, why don't you pick up Recharge and head over to make a night of it.

Nice snakey there....Welcome to the site!
I reckon it looks exactly like my little male coastal, same butterfly shaped marking on the head!!
And really, who cares what it is, so long as you love it and take care of it then nothing else matters!!!
Cheers, Alan.
