I think I know the snake you mean. A friend of mine has a carpet python that is grey, but for the life of me, can't figure out what it is. It looks nothing like all the more common carpets. If I find some info I'll post it for you.
Cheers!

Cape tribulation form Jungles are the black and white variety. These are not really on the market as of yet but I am told they should be soon as a few breeders have recently started working with them.To answer your question they are very rare in captivity and I believe they will be worth a fortune once established.I have had adds all over the internet trying to find people selling them and I am still yet to have one reply lol.Paul posted a nice pic of a CT jungle awhile ago in another thread.Maybe he can contribute to this post.

Just in reply to Craig...
Is it possible that snake your mate has is a Murray Darling Python (also known as Inland Python).

I gotta agree with Phil on this one! Well, he is an agreeable sort of chap, I guess! That is a lovely snake! What would they be worth to buy as hatchlings?

I absolutely love them!
Don't think you can get them as hatchlings David.
Paul will tell you more, and know more acurately, but when I enquired some time ago I think he said to me that that photo is of a wild specimin and that breeders up that way were trying to get permits to collect some, so no hatclings at all.
Paul, correct me if I'm recollecting it wrong...

hi everyone..
yeah cape tribs and open forest are very differant forms.
as far as cape tribs being in collections. there are bound to be some somwhere. but they were the focus of local npws study with some being held in captivity. We to could have them with a short drive up the road but i can do with out the attension that the first advertised hatchlings are going to produce from both keepers and parks depts. Just a metter of time before they do become avalible but i guess they will be a name your price animal to start with. and there will also be a trick in identifying true cape trib jungles with another locality also producing whitish carpets but of nowhere near as good quality as cape trib. So on a name your price basis be carfull what you pay for. at least with g.t.p its not hard to tell what they are..lol
cheers paul.
