GTP's anyone?

I have heard there are quite a lot of eggs in incubators around Australia this year. I think the market would get saturated with these snakes in even a shorter period then I previously expected!!! Anybody want to add a few comments about ho many they know of? Might even be possible to get them for about the same price as womas in 2 years time!

You watch how many actually hit the market, most breeders have waiting lists as long as your arm and you'd be horrified at the prices people are willing to pay for them.
Ten years ago when womas first started being offered for sale @ $2000 each everyone said the same thing about the market being flooded with in a few years yet here we are 10 years later and the price is still the same( after having gone up for a few years.
I think it will be a cold day in hell before you see greens anywhere near $2000 in this country.

Id have to agree Splitmore - I dont know where MH got his 'market research'.
Perhaps he could explain how many "quite a lot" is and how many breeders he confirmed this with.
Also a quick count of potential customers and the prices they are willing to pay would be good.

Yeah there will definately be plenty of babys around this year, but how many get offered for sale remains to be seen.

I have heard of 15 guaranteed clutches, one has already hatched out 20 babies. I think the price will still remain high for sometime yet.

It comes from a very reliable source but I have no details of the breeders that I can pass on. I will ask the question and see if any are available.

technically the high price is our fault. if we all just ignored the gtps due to their high prices and refused to even consider buying them at over $3000 then the prices would have to be lowered if the breeders want to make a single sale.

though i doupt that would happen...

slackra $3000 is a modest price, after you bring them up to breeding age with the careful concideration to their needs and actually get a pair that breed - they are worth every cent you pay for them! jmo

Aren't GTPs difficult to keep with some not making adulthood let alone breeding? Also the people breeding them would ask around the amount they paid. If I couldn't sell them at $5,000 I'd just wait. Snakes continue to rise in worth peaking while they are breeding age. I wouldn't rush to sell them off.

The guy I was talking to was saying the friend he got his bhps from is planning to grow this years hatchlings to yearlings (to get them past the 'risk of dieing' stage and sell them for 8,000 to 10,000.

Just Supply and Demand at the end of the day. If I had the money spare I'd buy some eventually too.
