GTS and Turtles

HI all

I vaguely remember a post a while back with a great gts enclosure with a fishtank at the bottom, i believe he had turtles in there.

What i want to know i have a 1.2m Golden GTS and am thinking of doing a similar enclosure, woudl it be ok to keep 'penny' size turtles in with the gts.

Dave.

Probably would be fine, the snake may bite the turtle, but most likely it wouldnt do much(unless a tooth gets in its eye). I would consider it a low risk, not one i would take considering the complications and short term nature of it.

i have been warned not to put turtles in with other reptiles because they like to eat tails but i don't know if this is true though. apparently some fish think tails are food too..

also might have to be careful of the snake trying to eat a small turtle? i dunno if they are digestable

i would like to see the enclosure setup though.

I would think the turtle would nip the crap out of the GTS tail , seen it happen with EWDs in with a turtle.

Hi Dave,

I believe that may be one of my enclosure you're talking about. Never had any problems with the turtle having a go at my GTS. Everything else is fair game for the turtle, yabbies, fish...everything gets smashed. The snakes and the turtle seem to have a certain respect for each other. The GTS love the tank and spend a lot of time 'hunting' in there.

Do not put them together! It only takes one good chomp from the turtle and you will be posting a *Do not keep these together thread* They may live in relative harmony for many years, then for no apparent reason?? trouble. Why would you risk it?
