| | Regular Member | | | | I am starting to build a second website in an effort to emphasise my carpet python group. Here in the US reckless breeders have made a complete mess out of our limited gene pool.
I have very well documented and reasearched bloodlines of just about everything but I feel I need a special site to explain all of it.
All of the carpet breeders sites over here focus moslty on what they are selling and most of that is morphs and hybrids.
I fear that since this is the only point of view that new keepers are exposed to that it promotes the idea that hybrids are OK or even desireable.
So we have decided to make an extensive carpet python site that promotes pure forms and dispels much of the misconceptions and propaganda that we see put forth by other sources.
More to the point, I am looking for pictures of the natural habitat of the vairous sub-species. I have always been fascinated by the natural history of these snakes and would very much like to include habitat pictures on the new site. Any pictures of wild carpets would also be great
I would of course give photo credits to any who can provide me with pictures.
thanks

To me seeing the natural habitat is fascinating. Too many of us over here just think of these animals as living behind glass. To see their natural habitat adds to my appreciation and underdstanding of them.
Too many people here think of them ,as 'just carpet pythons" and try to minimize the differences. This plays in to the mindset of the hybridizers. And increases the genreral acceptance of the practice.
I want to illustrate whay they are different, with range maps, scale counts, and habitat pictures. |

I think the best way for you to check on native habitats would be to come over for a holiday and check out all our beautiful locations for yourself!!! |

| | Regular Member | | | | I actually did make the trip down 2 years ago, had a fantastic time and saw quite a lot of places. I took many pictures but for the most part I did not think to label them in any way so I cant be exactly sure where each shot was taken. I do have a ton of pictures from around cape tribulation, even one very bad shot of a jungle I found there but thats about it!
I hope to make a second trip at some point.

When I came back into reptiles a few years ago I was amazed and extremely surprised of the mess. Why and how did it get so out of hand and so fast? Money and ignorance together make a sour stew I suppose.
Despite your lack of support many times on other forums, you keep on the right path. Very commendable.
