beautiful snake!
Just something to consider ...
When you're feeding if you hold the mouse by the tail the snake will tend to get the shoulder, back, whatever. They then have to swallow the prey side ways or backwards etc.
If you hold the prey from behind on the ribs (just under the arms) you can present the head and keep the tongs out of the way.

My guys grab their prey any which way. Then then seek out the head. Sure once or twice over the years they may have taken one backwards but I don't believe it was due to that reason.

i have fed him 3 times, the first 2 times he did end up grabbing by the side... he then spent some time working it around in his mouth till he had the head... then it went down no probs
the last feed was just the other day..... he got off a headshot that time.. WOOT!!!
i had all the mice by the tail with tweasers.

Yeah my guy hits them wherever then sniffs out the head. Sometimes he takes a while, but they aren't stupid they've been doing it for thousands of years.
As for handling. I always take my guy out for feeding, then when he's done I pick him up and put him back in his enclosure no worries.
