Ok then here's the scenario -
Fed my three B&G Jungle Carpets last night; Voodoo ate 2 wean mice, Cleopatra & Salem had 3 each. And I did all this in front of my husband, and I also updated all their record sheets which are still sitting on top of one of the enclosures.
Anyway I came home from work today to discover that my Uncle had dropped in (unannounced ) with my younger cousin (about 11 or 12). And when I get inside I find that my Uncle is handling Lucifer (my sub adult Proserpine who was fed almost a week ago, so he was ok to be handled) and that my cousin is handling Voodoo, less than 24 hours after her last meal. My heart skipped a beat when I saw this and I was not impressed, we had to put a MD juvie down last fortnight so I'm very protective of my babies right now.
I was extremely p*%$ed at my husband, because he knows the rules and he watched them feed last night.
And now I'm sick with worry, I'm terrified that this has some how damaged her and I'm going to have another heart breaking loss.
Does anyone know exactly (or for sure) how dangerous early handling is after feeding. Now I'm not an idiot I know it's not reccomended and I dont' need amateurs hurling abuse at me. I just want to know if anyone knows of any side effects, and if there is what can I do to help her.
Thanks in advance to all of you that offer your wisdom.
Just thought I'd share a pic of the little girl in question.

They will be fine, im sure they're not the first pythons to be handled after a feed. Worse case scenario is that they will regurgitate their meal, but even this is unlikely.

I dont think there will be any reprocussions. There are no seriouse problems associated with handling after feeding the main issue is that they might be frightened and feel the need to regurgetate there fodd so that they can more nimbly escape there "predators" and fit into smaller escape holes. Although its not good practice to handle after feeding the odd ocasion is not likely to do any harm.

well there you go. I was told at the pet store not to handle a snake for three to four hours after a feeding. This is very interesting to me.

Cheers Chris, I'm hoping she is yet to colour up fully, she's only about a year old so fingers crossed.
wow Pink, only 3 - 4 hours!? i usually always wait at least 48 hours and even then I'm not always comfortable. I've only ever been told 2 days and I've also read it in a number of books. I'd be having words with the seller of your snake if I was you.

Jones of the Jungle, sit back have a glass of wine to relax and if that doesn't work belt hubby over the head with a rolling pin. There is nothing more infuriating than having somone interfere with your animals like that. I've had my family do that to me too- come home to find somone bleeding because they've been bitten or somone is trying to be a Steve Austin and grabbing my snakes roughly by the back of the head etc.
I'm sure your animal will be fine, like everyone else said the worst is she might regurgitate it. Odds are she'll curl up and digest her meal and will forget about her violation.
All the best matey,
Simone.

Problem solved....put locks on your enclosures....hide the keys so that only you know where they are!!!
