mmm remove the snake from the enclosure with a hook if your woried about any in cage agression. i really only handle my snake now when the suns out, to take pics, clean the enclosure or weigh him but when i do i pretty much act like a tree. just a branch to climb on. also this might just be my snake but he really calms down if hes being handled out in the sun. like i can approach him with my hand head on and lift up the front of him and scoop him up.

imo chances are you will eventually get tagged, its not a really big deal anyways. teeth go in teeth come out, little bit of blood and thats it!

Yep, I also hook my little girl out, then let her wander onto my hand. Takes a bit of time, but she's not stressed.

I have never found a need to hook a snake. The few times that i have done it, it seems to have stressed the snake out more than just picking it up.

some snakes hate it when they see a hand coming at them and the hook is less 'intrusive'.is that the right word? ill use a hook on the flighty types .with younger ones you can place your hand over the head giving them less of a chance to recoil,to do this you must be confident ,unafraid and dont pussyfoot around.ie.dont hesitate.

I am proud to say I have never used a glove. I got tagged a few times when our snakes were younger, haven't been hit for about 6 - 7 months now.

Leave them alone for atleast 3 days after eating. If they feel threatened the may throw up their food. I sometimes handle mine after they shed to take some photos.

Going by my own experience with the animals i have i think the technique differs between every single animal. What works for an individual might not be the same for another regardless if it's the same species.

For adults I use a hook to get them out then handle them gently keeping an eye on their posture and their head. I do not hook hatchies. I pick them up gently and support them as best as I can. They are not very strong and can easily fall of your hand. I let hatchies (pythons) tag me, it does not hurt. I dont use the hook for them anymore because they tend to coil around the hook and getting them off takes forever. You unwind one coil and the other one comes over. AAARRRGGGHHH! so annoying!

the only time i have eva been bitten was when my dog tried to lick my python, stupidly enough i held on just a bit too tight when she tried to hide, as said above don't pull or hold then still, they will fight! lol. if mine tries to run for what eva reason, if u can't slow her down with the hand under hand motion, then let them go and head them off where you can pick them up again. stay calm, confident and they won't get to to frightened. mines a juvenile so shes a bit flighty anyway.
