As i diamond breeder i have had a lot of people asking to see photos of hatchlings and then backing out when they're not happy with their appearance. I once had a guy come to my place to buy baby diamonds. Firstly he said he would get to my place at 5pm but arrived at 8pm, and secondly he admitted that he had never seen a hatchling diamond before and had no idea what they looked like. But when i showed him the hatchlings he said to me " Err, they're ugly. Are you sure they're diamonds?". It took me a long time to convinced him that they were pure diamonds but he insisted on seeing my adults. Not just the parents of these babies, but all my adult diamonds. Finally he purchased a few hatchlings but was convinced they were hybrids and not pure diamonds. He also wanted a discount because of the distance he had to travel to get them. He didnt get it.
Also i think most of those APS regulars with 1000 posts have accumulated those posts through Chit Chat, and nothing else.

Why would you buy anything site unseen whether there hatchies or not ! I like pics of parents and hatchies before i buy a hatchie so i can see what their linage is like , also whether there colour will hold when the get older .
I also think the easiest way to stop people asking for pics is to put them in your advertisement
I like many others will buy if they see something they like for the right price .

That sounds a bit paranoid to me. I'm sure that people don't sit at home plotting on how they can best annoy Bob Withey this week. Don't give yourself so much credit
Simon Archibald
| I disagree Simon, some people see a successful breeder and dislike 'em just for that fact. They will do anything to try and annoy them and what better medium for people like that than the internet? |

Who knows why ppl won't by sometimes, I have had ppl come from all over Sydney to buy beardies ackies henrylawsoni etc etc and then for some unknown reason they don't buy. It gets frustrating, but that is the way it is.
I am all for educating ppl and helping where I can and with dealing with beginners you need to have a lot of patience. I still have contact with ppl I have sold to a couple of yrs ago. The more they ask, the more they learn and sometimes I learn.
It's all good IMO.

I bought a juv diamond and he was dark and I was unsure of how he would look. He is now over a year old, a meter long and is still getting to full potential. The yellow is coming out more and more each shed and I can't wait until he reaches his full potential. He is starting to look beautiful and is the most placid snake I have had contact with so far. The newbies to this "hobby" will learn soon enough. |

Most poeple have only ever seen adult or sub-adult snakes I guess (at the zoo or wild life parks). It's pretty rare you get to see hatchlings unless you are a breeder.
I would only want to see pics of the parents now though if I am buying a hatchling. |

You again reply to them explaining how colours develope and the hatchlings will turn out like the adults which you have allready supplied pics of. Their comeback reply is no thank you and inferring you are lieing. Very annoying to say the least.
To those who say simply put pics with the advertisement, fair enough. However when you advertise numerous species at once it is hard to do.
ALSO, for those who don't realise it there is a limit of pics you can add to threads. I allready hit mine and could add no pics to threads for several weeks till Slatey had my limit extended. I have no idea how many pics I am now allowed but I know I really cant waste them everytime someone asks to put a pic up for their own veiwing pleasure |

i like to see a hatchling pic, the parents and if possible a yearling
i like to see the hatchling looking good
the parents with nice colours
the yearling to give me an idea of what my little dude or dudette will be growing in to
that and the pics of hatchies always look so cute! It gets me (nearly) everytime

| Geez, i got mad just reading that serpent, let alone being the one who had to put up with that spanker!!! If i ever get anyone round here like that they will be getting a big kick in the bum with a large F*@k off as they scurry out the door. You must be a very patient man for showing him your whole collection after obvious insults to your Herp knowledge. Thumbs up for persistance and patience. |

| this can also be a problem with letting complete strangers see your whole collection, especially with the theft of reptiles going on,

At least the people who do buy your hatchies understand the whole colour change with these species. And if you have any left over i suppose you can just sell them at higher price to those half wits once the colours have come through,
Simone. | | | |
