Heres the first of the Diamonds for the season. Starting to hatch at only 47days after laying. Boy was I surprised when I went to air the containers just a few minutes ago.

Very cool Bob!
I've been meaning to ask someone as well, if you have eggs in the incubator that you only air out once a week what happens if the eggs start to hatch like a day after you air it out? Are the hatchies ok in an airtight container for 6 days? Or do you normally check more frequently closer to hatching time (probably a stupid question...but then again that's what I'm here for)

This was the small clutch , with only 20 eggs. Hopefully they will all hatch and be available for sale in about 3 weeks.
Tim, with the egg containers I air them once a week for most of the incubation, but twice a week for the last two weeks before hatching. In a normal sized airtight container there should be enough air to last close to a week for the hatchlings to breath, however most people check their eggs daily and should notice if there were hatchlings present.

Mr K, the white stuff is perlite, which is a non absorbent medium that I place between the vermiculite and the eggs. Keeps the eggs dryer and reduces the chance of fungus.

Thanks Bigguy, Ive heard of perlite but have never seen it. Sounds like good stuff, will keep it in mind for when i'm breeding. your eggs are very white so it must do pretty well.
