Hatchling Freshies

For those in Adeliade and are interested Gully Reptile Centa has a pair of hatching freshwater crocodiles for sale @ $400 each. Much cuter than that cat on another thread

If you wish to purchase them, you will need a specialist permit and will be inspected by NPWSA (but they were being kept in a 1.2 meter aquarium).

http://www.reptilecenta.com.au/company/location.html

And the bit about the website updated daily is not quite true (to put it politley) , the bredli pair was sold at least three months ago.
The crocs are not listed on the website, I dropped in and saw them today

You guy's are true b-a-$-t-a-r-d-$ ---> lucky ones I mean, not awful ones. What's your setup for him at this stage Brodes, and what's housing gonna be like as an adult?

Hi guys,
His enclosure atm is a 3ft aquarium.. divided into half land and half water. A basking spot of 33 degrees and a UVA and UVB light. Water is about 10cm deep. He is eating a wide variety of insects and fish, I also feed him the occasional 'turtle dinner'.

His housing as young adult will be an earth ring with a diameter of 5m which equates to an total are of around 20m square, all though you can go smaller then this 10m square is adequete(sp?) Once he grows out of his tank (in a month or two) he will be in a 2mx2m aviary and have a large pond.
They arent that much more work I spose, but they stress easily and getting them to feed can be a huge hassle if they are stressed. And filters have to be cleaned out daily and stuff. They eat a hell of a lot of food as well, and as juveniles over feeding of insects can casue intestinal blockage(Dr. Adam Britten) so a wide variety of food stuffs should be fed.

I will post up pics tonight hopefully

No worries mate,
I donmt handle my croc coz they are stressed very easily, but I guess you could with a salty. I have never been bitten and I dont want too, they hjave sharp teeth!!! If i handled him without the jaws restrained I would get bitten for sure I rekon
