Head In The Air

Quick question. When I put Scurvy outside on the grass/stones for a bit of outside time. He will stay still for ages, flicking his tongue. Then he will raise his front third or so and stick his head up in the air and sit like that for a while too. Why?

Because pythons are not naturally in the open during the day so he's scared as all get out that he's gonna get eaten by a predator.

Yes, I'm sure when scared the last thing animals look for is somewhere to hide.

Who says he's looking for somewhere to hide? When I pcik him up to handle him inside he moves around alot. Is he terrified? I wouldn't say so. When he does get the occasional fright he bolts. Completely different action to what he does when he's just cruising around.
