Heat Pad on click clack

I'm a little worried,

I keep hearing that you don't need a thermostat on a heat pad on a click clack as long as it only covers 1/3.

But i just measured the temp under the paper where he sometimes like to sleep, and it was 55c.

Its not hot to touch really, unless you hold your hand down, and he does stay there for quite a while.

Is this something i should be worried about.

Thanks

probably, i beleive snakes rnt to good at telling how hot things r underneath them.

I never actually kept my bredli in a click clack, but i have definatly heard from people that there is no need for a thermostat. Im not saying this is the right but i have heard it.

I have a couple pieces of paper towel down instead of newspaper as a square fits the click clack perfectly and plus i think it gives a bit of extra traction.

But ontop of the paper is anothe rpiece of paper back which he tends to curl up between the towel and the bark which is about 33c.

Dont heat mats run mainly on contact?

So if you raise it up it will be too cold? Not sure but I think someone on here said that once?

Put extra paper towel in there with his bark on top and give him another hide in the cooler bit and if you can fit one in the middle too, lots of choices.

The more paper towel the more insulation I would say. I have about 5 pieces in mine as they fit perfect like yours so that's what I use too and no thermostat, it doesn't get too hot as it's only an 8 watt heatmat.

I have three click clacks on one heat mat with no thermostat. The click clacks are situated about 1/3 of the way down on the mat.

All the occupants are doing extremely well...feeding and growing.

As soon as their big enough to move to a bigger enclosure a couple more will take their place with the exact same set up.

what kind of thermomerter are you using??? i think the people ones dont measure herp stuff very well. does it burn the under side of your wrist?? i think if you test it like a babies bottle and you dont get burnt then it shouldnt be to bad.

Maybe your heat mat is to hot?

Visit Facebook Profile
Try putting a tile under your clickclack and it should diffuse the heat a bit more while still maintaining contact. Mine hide under the paper, so added paper wouldn't help..
