Help

hi everyone i have a 3-4 month ond spotted that i got approx a week ago, he is constantly active and rarely stops. but over the last day or so he keeps getting in between the sliding glass doors on his enclosure and stays there for hours sleeping (there is cardbord in the gap so he cant get through just in case) but he doesnt really seem all that interested in getting out but just sitting there? he's temp is 31 at the warm end and 27 at the cool end. any suggestions as to why he is doing this?????
also he wrapped his mouth around my knuckle today, didnt strike at me or anything, just casually opened his mouth. is this indicating he is hungry? lol.

How often are you feeding him and what are you feeding him? As for sitting in the glass slide, that is normal, they like nooks and crannys, when one of my spotty's was little she loved cramming herself inbetween the glass and her hide hole sometimes, or inbetween the glass and the ceramic feature wall, there is a gap she'd squeeze herself into.

A spotty that age, I would feed it 1 pinky every 10-12 days of even try it with 2 small pinkies. If it is latching on or gripping you tightly when holding it and its mistaking your fingers for pinkies, yes, it is hungry.

Good luck.

Critta - Hiding in the glass gap is perfectly normal - just make sure that the cardboard is tight in there...have you considered using 'weather stripping'? it comes in self-adhesive roles from Bunnings and seals the gap very well...

Regarding the biting - he is likely a little hungry - a Spotted python that age should be able to take a fuzzy or hopper mouse (depending on how well he has fed and grown to this stage) - if you are not convinced he can go up a food size then try and feed multiple pinkies on your feed night...once every seven days is a good schedule for a young snake...
