I am looking at MD pythins and have done a bit of research. Yesterday
I began contacting breeders. One guy had a (nearly) yearling MD who is feeding well between 50 and 60cm. He doesnt own the parents bvut a freind does and he is selling the snake because he got more into jungles. As far as I can tell he really knows what he is doing. However he is selling the snake at $350...
Whilst i know snakes are expensive, I have done a fair bit of research and this seems too much. Some 9 month olds in SA are on special for $165 and it would cost me $50 to freight them, and this snake in my area is $145 more!!!
I really don't know much but I dont want to be ripped off. I need to email him tonight and say whether or not to go ahead and advertise, so any help would be appreciated...

Look around, you will see high prices and low prices. The ones in SA on special, where are they from?

Yeah, $350 IMO is too much for an MD of that size. I've seen some really nice top of the line ones go for $150 and their parents were crackers.
Some people just have no idea of the market and charge what they think is a reasonable price, others sell offspring years after they bought their snakes, and still ask the same as what they payed even if the market changed.
If we breed our MDs this year, depending on how many we get, ours will probably be between $100-$150, but we usually ask below market on hatchlings.

It's up to you, it's your snake, if YOU THINK it looks really nice and it's healthy and it's worth it then go for it, otherwise go URS for the cheaper one or shop around more.

Thanks so much guys. If anyone in my area had any I would like to get a yearling or a late hatchie from last year just coz I want it to have fed lots so it is less stressed with me. I was even willin to go $250... or is this still too much?
P.S I am in Castle Hill NSW

I reckon $250 for a yearling is a reasonable price.
Like what was said, it's really up to you what you want to pay, I've payed more than what was market for a snake I really liked the look of.

ask him to go to 250! it;s worth a try but imo it would be about 10-11 moths old and you could pay less if you bought of urs for one few months younger! 350 i way to much for a juvie/almost yearling(?) i would be excpectiong an adult for close to that! my pet shop had one for 350 18months old! and thats a pet shop!
