If you are getting a juvie, its better to keep them in a "click/clack" container until they are a reasonable size. Keeping them in a large enclosure can give you feeding problems.
Temperature should be kept at 32C for the warm end and around 24C for the cool end. Young snakes are kept on this heat 24/7.

Like Bonustoken said a click clack is great specially with a bub and starting out and a heat mat or heat cord to go underneath will be fine. If your bubs kept on heat it poberbly won't hibernate, better if they dont' at that age so I've heard. Also I'm sure Roy Pail can give you some handy tips. By using a click clack your snake will be more comfertable and will give you lots of time do do all the reasurch on them and get a good setup. Pretty much jungles love to climb so remember this when getting a enclosure, lots of branches and even some vines for decoration they love it, small hide, which ever substrate you choose to use my jungles are all just kept on news paper but that fake grass is also good for looks. Also some jungle bubs can be finiky eaters to so make sure he's eating good before you collect him, specially if it's your first snake. All the best and make sure you show us all some pics when you get him (love the jungles).

You can buy it direct from the publisher - it works out a bit cheaper than buying it from a shop, and postage is free.
I also like Care of Australian Reptiles in Captivity by John Weigel.
PS: I've bought books from both of the shops I've linked, and recommend them. Secure transactions, prompt responses to questions, quick delivery.
I contemplated using a plastic crate for my snake too, but found that she happily adapted to her 600x450x450 baby tank. |
