Help with feeding

Hi All

I fed our 1 year 4 month bredli (Houdini) a weaner rat on Sunday afternoon - put him back in his tank and he hasn't come out from his log since. He has always been like this - a recluse and usually only comes out at night to sunbake on top of the log!

He usually stays in there for about 3 days after the feed (stays in there for at least a week when he's about to shed) and i know that all snakes have different personalities - but is this normal or could we be feeding him too much????

Your thoughts?

I find after a feed my snakes usually retreat to somewhere out of site until they digest their food. I think they probably feel vulnerable with a belly full of food so they wait until it's digested before they start basking or roaming around. If they were in the wild it would slow them down and make it harder to get away from danger, etc., as quickly.

yea perfectly normal, also a good idea not to handle after a feed, can stress them and cause them to regurgitate their meal

Okay - that's good - i was starting to think that i smelt or something!!!

My partner doesn't usually handle him for about 2-3 days afterwards - i have only just started handling him again because he was really snappy - now he's just crabby when we are getting him out - is fine once we've got him out!

I freaked out the other day because Houdini struck at my partners face!!!!! Needless to say i don't like him near my face!
