Help with my MD girls.

Hey all,

I just have a quick few questions to ask and i hope some of you can shed some light on my situation.

I bought a pair of MD's 2 years ago and when i first bought them they fed great. Then the girl stopped eating for about 6 months but the boy fed great in that time. I then got the girl eating again. To cut a long story short they are both now just over 2 years old and the male would be about 5ft or so but she would probably not even be 3ft. She eats every week just like him but never seems to put on any size.

My other dilemma is i bought another girl for my original boy to breed with as there was no way the original girl would have enough size and weight to breed with him. The second girl i have also eats great but does not appear to put on any size. She would be around 3 1/2ft. Also when she may dangle from my arm she goes to pull herself up but falls like she has no strength in her body.

I am worried about both my MD girls so i hope someone can help me.

Cheers

Cameron

Gee i hope everything turns out to be allright camo ,but the only thing i can suggest is take them to see a good Herp vet in your area and get them checked out just for the piece of mind there may be be an underlying problem somewhere thats gone un checked and hope everything turns out ok .

Cheers Paul.

Are the original 2 kept in the same enclosure as each other?
Perhaps the male is stressing the female out as it is more dominant?

How long has your new one been like that?Is it kept seperate from the others?

Hey Camo,

In regards to their size, it would all be relavent to the size, amount and type of food you and also how often you are feeding them. 6 months will make a huge difference in size between a feeding and non feeding animal. I would increase the feeding on the female if everything else appears normal in her behaviour. If not, it may be worth a trip to a good herp vet to have her checked out.

Was the second female kept in an enclosure that had nothing for her to climb on? Lack of furniture in an enclosure, such as no branches to climb on, can cause them to have weaker muscle tone and can eventuate into a loss of control, like in the situation you have mentioned. You don't really want to know what the worst case scenario could be do you??

Cheers
Daz

That does sound a bit odd Camo.... May i ask what you are feeding them? I feed my 6 foot girl a medium rat or 2 every 8 - 10 days, and she is growing like a weed. Is there a chance that both females are riddled with worms? Eating and not growing is strange dude... Might be best to see a good herp vet?
Bill.

I feed them different sized rats every 7-10 days. The rat sizes are fine for the snakes size.

I might have to go to a vet i think.

Cheers
