You can find sea snakes anywhere along the Qld coast. I've seen plenty of sea snakes at Noosa and Bundaberg so you should be ok in the Coral Sea.

I've seen sea snakes caught up at Palm Cove as well... they're quite common apparently!

If you want to see sea snakes for sure book a dive trip on the Yongala. http://www.yongaladive.com.au
I have dived the reefs of Cairns area quite a bit & have never seen any sea snakes here. The yongala is based in Ayr which is a bit south of Townsville which is about 4hrs drive south from Cairns.

Robbotio, if you can head south to the sunshine coast you should score some good waves.
The gold coast also has good waves but heaps more crowded.
If you like pulling into narly board snapping barrels, yaroomba at coolum will offer you some hell pits when its on, at the sunshine coast. There are a few other good breaks around the area for hell barrels, but i cant devulge to much.

our 1st trip to Cairns we saw a tree snake in the Flecker Botanic gardens. The second time we saw a scrub python at Cape Tribulation. Both of those trips were in May/June. Also lots of gecko's and some frogs on a night walk in the Daintree. If you want a guarantee of seeing turtles go to the Low Isles, we saw more than a dozen!!! Daintree river cruise is also really good for herp spotting. Hope you have an awsome trip, Cairns is my favorite place on earth!!!!
