How can i make a background?

I would like to make a background for my Childen's python, its just the matter of getting what i need, and thats the question, what can i make it out of? where can i can it? what paint can i use, or do i use something else to colour the background?
And also, whats good to use on the bottem of a enclosure for a Children's python, I believe sand isn't good, Would bark be a good idea??

Visit MySpace Profile
well if you want to do a rock background (my mate did it and it looks pretty good. just collect a whole heap of large pebles and use sealant to glue them to the back of your enclosure

Repti-Bark is a great substrate. Its nice and rough for shedding and provides some cover if they want to bury themselves a bit.

Though I have a Blue Tongue Skink, I have a foam rock background, but since he can climb straight up it (-.-) I have it stuck to the Outside of his glass enclosure

here is a good website to learn how to make them.
they use foam and cover the foam with different stuff like expando foam and tile grout

I'm planning on making a realistic enclosure with a realistic (foam) sandstone rock backround and use native aussie plants, and a bark/sand substrate mix for my diamond!!

i cant wait to start
