How long is a piece of string???

How long has it been?? What species?? How old?? How long since last feed?

If your snake is coming up to a shed soon they will sometimes hold on until they shed their skin and do their thing at the same time...

Hope this helps

To start with your not doing it any favours feeding twice a week so i am going to assume it may stem from that at the moment...

Weaner mice are way too small aswell, you should feed something about twice as wide as its head... And you need to get it feeding about every 10 days...

If you feed your snake too small meals they can actually use more energy digesting the items than they gain from them, resulting in sick animals....

Is the snake provided with proper heating?

Um funny that because the guy I brought it off told me to feed twice per week - he had over 400 snakes so i think he knows what he is doing and he is a member of APS. Weaner mice are just about as big as she can handle - she is in good body shape - that is about twice the size of her head. So um - does anyone know??

3 weeks isn't too long really, every snake is different.
I do agree about the size of the food you are feeding it, every 5 to 6 days is fine (IN MY OPINION) but I would definitely be feeding it weaner rats at that age assuming it is the size it should be.
Like I said feeding amounts and frequency are very much a matter of opinion and that is mine.

How long ago did u buy it???

If you bought it as a hatchling the info he gave u is pretty right, I feed hatchos every 5 days or so for the first few months then stretch them out to about a week to 10 days at yearling age.

Unless she hasnt grown at all since hatchling she can easily eat something bigger than a weaner mouse, it will suprise you trust me.

Got any scales handy? If you know her weight try to feed between 5 and 10% of body weight every 7 - 10 days...

Works for me but is purely opinion....

She was born a bit before Christmas - so not a huge size at the moment

She has about tripled her size since I got her at Christmas - growing really fast - she started to fed on small mice at that time which I upgraded to nearly a full grown (weaner) mouse now,

So she is only a hatchling then, that got me a bit when you said a yearling...

You mean a bit before Christmas 2007 ? That would make it 4 months old not a yearling and would obviously change the size of the food it eats.

Sorry I get a bit mixed with yearling and hatchling - I class a hatchling as really baby!! Sorry for any confusion!!
