I had one doing it for awhile, it won't cause any harm. If you hold the rat/mouse in your hand (maybe use a glove if your worried) and leave only the very tip of its snout sticking out of your hand. Present it to the snake snout first and when its strikes it should get it right over the snout. Then slowly remove your hand while wriggling it slightly so it throws some good coils around it.

It worked 9 times out of 10 for me, now the snake eats snout first all the time no matter how the food is presented. And it never struck my hand in all the times I did it which surprised me.

hey boris i'm guessing its a hatchy usually as they start eating larger pry items they tend to correct there table manner simple due to they realise its easier head first than having hairs pushed in the wrong direction.

As said above go for some larger food items then he will have no choice. If it swallows them backwards they must be small enough to swallow backwards so it wont be a problem. What size rats are you feeding him?

Hand feeding is a bad idea if you dont want to get feeding responces on your hand further down the track.
