Found this guy in northern NSW on Saturday. I've ID'ed him as the spotted sea snake Hydrohis ocellatus (corrections welcome). The animal appeared dead when discovered. This is quite common with washed-up sea snakes. However it did react weekly when touched. Attempts to replace into the sea failed, including wading out and placing it into a rip. Note the presence of barnacles and parasites. The animal eventually passed on.
