Pugsly,
Can you post a pic of your adult 'hypo' carpet? All these babies that are floating around and being sold as 'hypos' are nothing more than standard carpets. Carpet hatchlings are among the most variable of all hatchlings with many of them lacking any black in the colouration. The black simply develops as the snake grows and it basically turns out like any other carpet. There are a couple of well known breeders charging ridiculous prices for these 'hypo' hatchlings when I'm sure they know full well that they are just normal carpets, and plenty of people have been sucked into buying them. I'm not even convinced there are any true 'hypo' coastals out there. I'd love someone to prove me wrong and post a pic of a true adult 'hypo' carpet that has proven to be a recessive gene but until then I won't believe it.

Well said splitmore, i've been biting my tongue .
The word Hypo is thrown on anything that is slightly different, people have gone hypo mad here in the last 12months and people are taking advantage of that.
I didn't want to say anything to pugsly's photos of it but it looked like a normal coastal carpet. Definatly no 'hypo' sorry pugs
It's just like the whole hypo bredli thing, the way people carry on about them you would think they had just been dicovered or they were something unusual, they have been around for a long time, just no one cared until alot of high red ones started coming out.

Look thats just what it was sold to me as, and from what ive seen on here of other coastals it seems different to me.
If you dont like it then then dont worry but you can ring Pails and tell him he is wrong ok.

I agree with your comments in relation to some hatchies being sold off as being Hypo's, when they aren't, or may not turn out to be as adults.I personally would be worried about buying anything under a sub-adult. There are probably more hypo coastals in the wild than you would think, I believe 'Gecko Dan' stated on one thread that he has seen some.
However, I have seen a few pic's of adult Hypo's here in Australia owned by different people, and apparently 'Rock' (Rob Mcloud) has some stunners, maybe once Browns as got himself up there, we will see some long awaited pic's.
There will of course be some adult hypo's that express the gene more strongly than others, and I would have to say that although Pugsley's isn't as black reduced as some others I have seen, it is still low compared to 90 % of coastals in my opinion.

I recently enquired into a hypo coastal which was advertised on an internet site, I got sent me a pic of a scrub python! Not even hypo at that! Feel sorry for any1 else that actually bought these so-called hypos.
Anyhow Pugs, do we get 2 see a photo of your hypo? (Cos I love em!)

| Kingii,
No need to get personal but just for the record i have been keeping and breeding for over 15 years so I think I am well qualified to comment. I have seen and bred dozens of carpets that are identical to those being sold as hypo's and never sold them as anything but common coastals because thats all they are. Roy Pails has been around alot longer than me and would be well aware that this is the case.

obviously hit a raw nerve there pugsly, am not 'trashin your thread' simply stating a fact that plenty of naieve herpers have been taken for a ride with these 'hypo' carpets. As no one has yet put forward, or referred me to a pic of an adult hypo I still stand by what I've said

Maybe you haven't seen any because no one cares what you said.
Can the mods please delete this thread now as it is obviously pointless.

So let me get this straight - Pugsly has a costal (which I have seen in the flesh) He says it is hypo. (I am no expert but it looked hypo to me). He puts up pictures and now offers it for loan.
If you see and you like then pm him, else start a new thread (not in the for sale) and debate it there.

I'd like to see how this looks like a normal coastal, if you want to call it one go for it, but the colours to me are worth alot more than the average dull colours.
