Hello

I was hoping to get a little clarity on the state of the nomenclature of the genus that holds the children's group of small pythons, did the petition to the ICZN hold (therefore they fit snuggly into the
Liasis), or does the genus
Antaresia stand as valid? I find it a little confusing, because namely many are happy to use Smith's name sp."
stimsoni" over W&W's sp. "
saxacola", yet I thought this was also part of the original ICZN petition?
Secondly, does anyone know the autapomorphies that define the genus
Antaresia? And is there access to any online cladistics of the Aussie pythons (Pythoninae???)?
I'm not trying to start any form of flame war on systematics of the group, but I am very much interested on how the rulings currently stand with the ICZN. Just getting back into the pythons I'm still a little green around the edges
Many thanks,
Steve Nunn
