info needed on swamp snakes

if any one can help i have a pair of swamp snakes wich mated about 9-10 weeks ago she has gone of her food and is geting big how long do thay take to give birth and i have been told thay have live young is this correct.any info would be great.also dose any one know roughly how many thay normally have.

Hi Mate,

Yes they give birth to live young, if i were you i'd be expecting 3-7 babies, but there could be more. It's hard to say when they'll be born, nobody could give you an exact date, but just make sure you're ready for them at anytime. As a precaution, make sure the female is housed separately, and that there are no small gaps anywhere in the cage, as the hatchies will be very small and will escape quite easily.

I'd be inclined to give her somewhere sheltered to give birth. Possibly some moist spaghnum moss in a dish under one of her hides.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I'd be keen to try keeping swamp snakes if you have any spare babies!

i wasent arfter an exact date just a ruff idea on how many weeks thanks for the info and if ever thing goes well i will be selling the babies sent me a pm so i have your details when there ready.thanks
