Introducing 2 hatchie jungle pythons

ok here's the story me and my bro just got 6 hatchie jungle pythons and i am getting 2 of them. when we first got them we put the males in one enclosure and the females in another enclosure so 3 in each now what happened was 2 of the males latched onto each other and balled together was a very delicate proceedure to get them apart but after it all they were both ok

now my question is this i am wanting to put a male and a female in the same enclosure a 4ft X 2ft X 2ft now im wondering if this is a good idea or should i keep them seperate untill they get abit bigger and not so bitey

they all in seperate containers atm btw

Don't put hatchies into such a big cage. Jungles would be OK in tubs till they're 12 months old at least. Wouldn't consider a 4x2x2 until they were at least 2 years old. M&F should be OK together, but feed separately, and watch them closely when you put them back together.

RE: Re: Introducing 2 hatchie jungle pythons

Do they feed ok?
I ask this because I found that jungle hatchies fed better when pirched above their prey. I therefore used 9 litre upright tubs from the Reject Shop ($4ea from memory) and screwed a branch from one end to the other on a slight incline. This then gave them a) climbing room and b) a pirch to prey off.
I found their eating habits it increase and seemed to be more active.

I would house them individually in these tubs. I wouldn't even consider putting them in a 4x2x2 until they were approx 3 - 4 ft.

Have you thought of dividing the enclosure into 2 seperate 2x2x2 enclosures?

Food for thought.

some of my jungles are only 2 to 3 foot and are kept in an even larger enclosure then that, cant see a problem if there are multiple hides for them

RE: Re: Introducing 2 hatchie jungle pythons

I keep a male and female hatchling together in a 900x600x600mm enclosure and they seem to be doing fine. I recently made an enclosure 600x600x600mm for someone which would IMO be perfect for hatchlings. I'll be making some that size for myself when I get more hatchlings. Good luck, wish I had 6 more jungles.
