Is my Jungle a freek

Hey guys and girls,

Just wanted to as if its the norm for a jungle to grow to 7 foot my monty shed last night and i took a tape to his skin he measured in at 2.4m i have read on here that they are only meant to get around the 1.7m mark, think i might have a freak.

When shedding the skin will normally stretch a considerable amount so I would doubt that the snake itself is actually as long as the skin measured.

Cheers,
Ishka

King905au - When snakes shed skins - the skin stretches. I would suggest you should measure your python. Take a string and run it along your python and then measure the string - you cannot get an accurate measurement from the shed skin.

Across their distribution they exist in dense jungle and relatively open woodland. I believe that animals found in open woodlands tend to be a fair bit longer than those in dense jungle.

I think he should be just over 6 feet (about half an inch). Snake skins normally stretch about 30% (But some can be longer or shorter). Often people measure the shed skin and think pythons are a lot bigger than they really are. Good example is the reports of mega giant green anaconda.

If you want to know how long your snake is – take a string and run it down the snake’s back and measure the string.

nice snake, you may find it has a bit of atherton influence in it. good quality 'true jungles' (as they are often referred to as) usually dont get bigger then 5ft and even that is large, my jungles are adults and the male is 120cm, female is 135cm having said that they are very stocky! anything larger then 5.5-6ft are likely from a more woodland like habitat.
