jealous of your scrubs

Hi im new here, just registered..Im back in the uk, i love scrub pythons, but they are very hard to get here, the main localities you can get are bar neck, merauke, and the odd mollucan and aru...
they are all wc snakes, only cb breeders are in europe, the odd 1 or 2 here... Im so jealous of you guys with some of your scrubbies !!

Been looking through some pics.. The bar neck , halmehere, and mollucans has to be some of my favs, i love em all really, if i could i could bloody get some !!!

Anyway there must be a big differance between cb scrubs, and the wc... I had a Merauke wc juvinile female...she hated captivity, never settled down, even after 4 years, shes still nasty temprament....

cheers mark

They used to be exported. I heard that their bloodlines were starting to thin, as they're inbreeding more and more often because they are no longer exported.

I don't notice any difference in wild caught and captive bred, except for temperament. I've always found captive animals to be more relaxed (in general), but you always get a little chainsaw every and then.

That's a very good point. Someone should ring up the EPA and find out how long it's been since it was illegal to export. If it's been a while, you've stepped into that one markmachae.

Umm, just for reference Merauke is in Indonesia, I don't think the EPA will care one jot. lol.

Ah, so there WAS a reason for flaming this time. Excuse me for not knowing a single locality of scrub python.

I imagine, though, Indonesia would still be exporting, so it wouldn't matter.

As Channi has pointed out Merauke allows exports of WC reptiles. Merauke is in Indonesia or West Papua.
Scrubbies from Merauke aren't even the same species as our Aussie ones.

Hi just logged back on, and see lots of deleted posts...? someone mentioned inter breeding, and bloodlines getting a bit thin...

I would agree, on many carpet sp, they are cross bred, especially coastals, Irian Jayas, jungle carpets, and now diamonds.... Its a shame, as pure bloodlines are becoming hard to get now, coastals the worst...I dont agree with cross breeding personally...I looked at 3 "coastals" 2 were cross breds,...do you get the same here ??

There are plenty of breeders providing jcp,s, not too many pure Mcdowelli, especially the Brisbane, they are hard to get hold of...

As for illegal importing ? Nah mate, they all come from indo, not australia, so i havent "walked into" anything mate

Back to topic plz, i would love to see your scrubs !! any locality either in the wild, or captive, so lets see some pics please ??

All of our wc snakes are imported from indonesia, which is legal. Shops here cant sell illegal snakes blatantly on show...I dont know your laws tho in ozz, so no probs mate...

People have been breeding australian snakes here for some time, Paul Harris is the top breeder in europe in having the most differant sp of carpet, check his web site out if you want to compare...www.ukpythons.com

what do tend to pay here for say a bar neck scrub ? Is there plenty of people breeding them over there ?

some of the wc,s can be in slight worse for wear, id much prefer cb anyday, to wc, but unfortunatly hardly anyone in the uk is breeding scrubs, i could count them on one hand.....

thanks for all your comments, but i want PICS
