John O' shea the maniac

If any body has doubts about John O”sheas mission of insuring that nobody would keep Green Pythons then think again. John O’shea told me exactly that on a few occasions.
Back then he targeted not only Big guys greens but also took Stuart Barnes greens, and if I can remember correctly Charles Atkins ones as well. John O'shea hated reptile keepers. John O'shea once charged Bob under the tainted property act ( reverse onus of proof ) with collecting Spiny tailed monitors from Mt Isa. Bob lost the case but had never actually collected these at all as I was with him in Mt Isa at the time and know this as fact.
John O’shea back then was a crooked detective who did not always follow the letter of the law and is infamous for telling lies in court. I personally have had many experiences with this mad man. He harassed many good reptile keepers and confiscated dozens of reptiles off people without having any evidence against them. Most of the seized reptiles usually died through their lack of care and I personally know some one who witnessed snakes in bags just lying on the ground for several weeks at a time. My dealings with this maniac came to a head one day at my place when he was not conducting himself in the appropriate manner and I ordered him to leave which he refused subsequently causing me to bash him and his mate in my lounge room. This turned out to be a bad idea on my behalf not because I landed six weeks in prison but because I now had a crooked policeman with a personal vendetta against me. He absolutely hated me with a passion and charged me several times over many years with made up offences sometimes involving reptiles that I had never kept or had anything to do with. The good news is that he has never won any court cases against me and was eventually removed from the Fauna task squad after he was caught with copies of documents about me that were illegally obtained from customs. The bad news is he then ended up in the organized crime section of the Queensland Police force. I for one believe that if it wasn’t for O’sheas actions against Bob’s greens and the others mentioned there would in deed be in large numbers of greens in captivity today.

Dave, dont forget he targeted Bob Buckley, Neil Charles, Brian Barnett and also tried to have Bucklies GTP's siezed that were exported to SA(Tims) and NT. Luckerley the authorieties in SA and NT told him to take a flying leap.

John O'shea mission was to clean up the illegal taking of reptiles in Queensland and make a name for himself. While his intention was probably admiral, his attitude and the way he went about things was not. However he did make a name for him self as the person who squanded tons of tax payers money with little result.
I believe he is still working in the police force but working in the section that deals with pedophilia. May be his attitude is well suited here.

cwarren72. Oshea had this idea if no one had Greens legally in captivity, then there would be no need to take any from the wild to replace any stock that died. So he tried his best to have all siezed in Australia. He was unbalanced, and was known to cry in court if decissions went against him.

Good to hear personal accounts about this tosser, not many herps can say they were around back then and know the siituation and how it was.
It must have felt good to smack him one - 6 weeks sounds worth it - i reckon Bigguy would take those odds!

What are you talking about John's a top bloke....lol....I was there at Bobs court case....John and one of his side kicks woke me up about 11 at nite...wanting to know about some bloody tiger snake....it was animal that went through the books of a herp called P.Cramer and they were under investigation at that time the snake had already been passed on...if I remember rightly John coped a bite from one of Cramers tiger snakes during a raid....John did hate herpers wounder what they are up to now...will the fauna squad make a return?
