Hi all,

Was wondering roughly what age, weight and/or length do most jungle breeders here start there breeding programs and does it differ much for male and female?? Thanks in advance

haven't bred mine yet, but the main thing i look for is age and length, i'll wait until mine are 2 to 3 years old and about 4 1/2 foot to 5 foot,

just the way i'm thinking, but i might be wrong.lol..........

Some of the true jungles would struggle to hit 5 foot though?

if you look in herptrader.com.au under links and caresheets theres an artical on sizes for breding don't know if theres anything on jungles in there but covers a few species you might want to check it out?

Yeah thanks for that, I did see it there is info on carpet/diamond python but its min length was more after what most breeders use as most don't want to rush their snakes into it.

as said some jungles never get 5 ft but if well looked after and conditioned i reckon two and a half they can be breed and they should lay at just under 3. the best think to do is find out how large the line of jungles get and take it from there.

jason pretty much summed it up, we have a female here that has had a few clutches and she would be around 4 ft max,
most of our females are 2 and a half when put together and 3 on laying.

We put a 18 month old male with a 36 month old female this season and she laid 18 eggs last week, the male is only about 4 foot but obviously mature enough to breed.

hope this helps,
nick

Thanks rex and jason what do you estimate the 4ft girl would weigh prior to cycling?

hey all,
yeah sounds like you have it, i reckon going by weight/size would be betta than age. i know a guy who mated a female at 18 months, and all went fine, but it sounds too risky for my liking. She was a big one tho, prob 3 foot easy..
good luk with it all,
give me another 6 months, and ill prob be setting up threads like these too
