Question Jungle Carpet Qs...

...because potential owners want to know.

I'm considering getting a young jungle carpet next season, and I've got a few questions for the people who know more about caring for them than I do.

For this snake, I probably will go with a click-clack to begin with, if that's suitable. I've never used a click-clack before. What's the safest heat source to use with a click-clack, which won't damage the plastic?

The adult-size tank will be custom-built. What kind of tank do you have? Is it long or tall? What are its dimensions? What kind of heating do you use?

I'll most likely get a male jungle, for the size factor. Jungles generally grow to 1.5m, and females are larger than males, right?

Do jungles have a reputation for being finicky eaters?

Finally, I'll probably need some tips on curing snappiness.

Thanks everyone!

for click clacks i use a heatmat about one third under neath it and have had no problems as yet but then again id say check to make sure it doesnt have thin/cheap plastic and all should be fine

my tanks i have arnt exactly big as mine are still kinda young however it is longer then taller only just though
at the moment im usuing heat cords however personally i prefer to use heat lights at least that way i know if it is definately working or not

not sure which gets bigger sorry

i dont think they have a reputation missing a meal mine never have

to cure snappiness well i think that more depends on the snake then how often you handle it as some never handle theres and yet theres are placid and at the same time some are snappy as mine have grown they have gotten less snappy and i dont overly handle my jungles much maybe 2-3 times a week for bout half an hour

if your worried about yourself getting bitten the only way to get over that is to be bitten
its more of a shock of the bite then the pain and also the fact that you know you will get bitten once your over that you will be fine

dont forget they can sense to some point if your scared of them

cheers

Thanks Jeramie, that's cool.

It's not that I'm scared of being bitten, it's more that I haven't been bitten. My mac is very mellow...or dopey, depends how you look at it.
