Hi All,
Here is 'cokehead' - my little jungle. His head is the colour of coke - like the yellow is eeking through the black. I thought he might be interesting as he matures.
This is only a hatchling so the colour looks like it will be good, but he has a lot of 'third colour' being the grey you can see coming up from the ventrals - as you can see it goes right up and over the dorsal area. Will this turn yellow or remain grey???? This lineage is known for its strong black so he is an odd one alright.
Cheers

I agree. That's a top photo as well. I don't think it's going to be jet black and yellow, as the black areas seem to be getting light towards the lower-mid body. The yellow seems to be coming out very nicely though, should be a real beauty.. the term 'dud' would never have crossed my mind, he's a stunner for sure |

I think as he's going to get older, the yellow is going to blend through even more, and he will no longer have the striking markings Jungles are known for.
I'm saying 'no stunner'. He's going to look washed out later on... just my opinion.

Hi Ad
I've never raised a jungle from hatchy to adult hood, but whenever I have seen pics of the ones where the black is washed out, it's usually the yellow/gold that comes through in the black. I don't reckon it will stay grey.
I think he's VERY cute
Congrats.

and whats the best way to calm it down
| You dont - Jungles are display animals.
If you want to handle a reptile get a beardie or diamond python.
Jungles are incredibly shy - not aggresive - very high stress animals. Not for playing with.
Nice little guy though!
Cheers

Leigh, Md's are a passive species - probably one of the calmest pythons - I dont disagree with calming one.
Jungles may never lose the striking - more likely they will stress and go off their food and bring on illness.
They have different behavioural traits.
Pike - there is the exceptional case of a quiet jungle - you are still stressing the animal though.
I dont think Jungles are a 'play with while watching tv' type reptile - its just my opinion of course,
Cheers
