just got smashed by my 6-foot coastal

This is why you should keep your hands out of reach at feeding time



it's bruising up already too.

i did use tongs. he always seems to be way more interested in my hand than the rat. my hand was also outside of the enclosure, he stuck his head through the gap in the sliding doors and struck me.

well tongs are they way to go so you were doing the wright thing, i use a pair of barbecue tongs thay are about two foot long and are excellent to use for large snakes.

what if they miss the rat and bite the cold hard steel tongs?

i find thats never been a problem, i dont wave it around in front of them, i pick up the rat, place it directly in front of the snakes mouth and let it grab it.
