Just Hangin Around.............

Well I guess that Summer is here and the local snakes are out and about.
I found this fella eyeing off my rats last night, about 4 feet long. I put him/her in a bin and chucked in a defrosted large rat......down the hatch it went.

This morning I got it out to take it back down the bush and found a couple of very large gashes (about 4 inches) long, one either side of the neck.
I took it over to a friends place to be sown up, he reckoned about 30 stitches should do it.
It was also missing about 3 or 4 inches of the tail, old injury, Interestingly it's hunger overcame the pain of swallowing with these large gashes.
It will be released when the stitches come out.

Lucky you found it I guess and not some non-snake loving rat keeper.
Let us know how the wound heals.

Good to see everyone out there doing their bit. Sounds like he's had a hard life - time he cut a break.
