Juvinile Carpet Pythons?

Is any one in Melbourne selling Juvinile Carpet Pythons? I have a friend who's thinking of getting one..and the pet stores are saying around $200.
I don't know snake prices so is this reasonable?
Cheers

Yep, I think $200 is a reasonable price.
You sometimes see hatchlings for $180, but I haven't seen them much cheaper than that...

$200 seems fairly cheap (more than a reasonable price) considering most pet stores prices when it comes to herps...
Most pet stores are charging 2 and even 3 times as much as what breeders are asking...

That sounds like a bargain Alex, even if you had to pay fright-cost on top.
Was your Juvie sexed too?

Nicole I am still fingers crossed as I haven't seen any signs of ovulation but she seems to be getting a bit heavier. Congratulations would definately be premature my sweet beauty but thanks for thinking of me anyway
Jake, if she pops I will let you know, (and probably the rest of the world too)

Shops in Adelaide have young coastals for $250, Murray-Darlings and Darwins for about $300 and bredii for $380.
There is also a yearling costal for $300.
If you are game enough to buy an animal unseen try http://www.snakesnt.com/
AussiePythons.com (as well as other aussie herp sites) has a trading page and it is getting close to breeding time. keep an eye on it.

Don't forget you will need permits cages and other stuff. If you buy a small snake you could getaway with a small plastic aquarium, a heat pad and (VERY IMPORTANT) a thermostat. Get all your housing and permits done before you get you snake.

Thats quite a markup compared to dealing direct with a breeder.
RepRascals,we are going down to Melbourne in a week or so and were going to have a look at all the shops and perhaps make a purchase if we could find some nice snakes but not if they are that expensive.
Could you let me know which shops are the expensive ones and which are good value as it will save us a lot of time travelling between all the shops.

cheers M..........

qld is usually the place to purchase coastals from private breeders, have seem them as low as $100 sometimes, $150 being about average for hatchies up their. The banana benders seem to have the right idea (that being keeping lots of the best snake around )

cheers
Pom
