Koubee visitted today and had her first handling experience with venomous snakes. She hook-and-tailed a redbellied black snake, and a very calm tiger snake of ours. Of course, all necessary safety protocols were at hand - car, bandages, etc, and she was well informed as to the 'semi-controlled' dangers involved. For new keepers - these aren't the sort of snakes that should be dealt with without being well versed in handling techniques etc. The tiger, in particular, can do a lot of damage, but both should be considered dangerous.
Well done Liz!!
Cheers,
Austy.
