Legal Age?

I am interested in eventually breeding my Darwin (bit early I know since I don't have a male...) but I was curious as to what age you would start to breed. My girl is 2 years old, 4.5 foot long, 2 inches at her thickest. So would she be ready to breed in the upcoming season or would it be healthier to leave her for the follow one?
Either way I think I will be waiting for the 2006 breeding season

It is not age but size that determines when breeding is likely to be successful. I have posted the attched table previously and it should answer your question. The table is based on data from Rick Shine's book - "Australian Snakes".

I will post the table somewhere where it can be displayed properly but it will have to wait until this evening.

I will reply with the link when I have done it.

The table does not say how successful the breeding will be, or clutch sizes
etc.

Brian tells me of a scrubby he had that was of breeding size and produced a viable clutch even though when the eggs came out they were on the thin side having come from such a small female.

If you ever get a chance to read Rick Shine's book it is a great read on this kind of stuff.
