Licenses

Why is it that Victoria’s license fees for keeping reptiles and other animals varies so much in price depending on the month you purchase/renew the license in? ie. In October, the cost is $44, and in April it’s $22. Do other states vary too?

When are licenses up for renewal in VIC?
Could it be that if you apply for a license mid year then they only charge you half the usual price of a yearly license?

cheers M.....

OooO...hey I didn't think of that. They're up for renewal September 30th...so that would figure I guess!

Thanks!

Also, if you get a license, and don't renew it , do they come and check your premises for animals, or if you say that your snake dies, do they come to check also? (just curious...not that I would ever do that, but I know some people that were thinking about it.)

Licenses

IMO
I think that the Victorian Government has got something right for a change as you always know that your licence is due on a certain date and why pay the full price like you do in other states.
To have a scale rate on licenses depending on the month you apply for your first licence is a good idea as you can get a month or 2 for free if you plan it right.
If you look at other states every licence varies on the expiry date but Victoria everyone's the same, I reckon it is easier to keep track of.

To answer Monty's questions, yes, if you do not renew your license, and as far as they (P&W) know, you still have animals, they will follow up, and may inspect your premises.

If an animal dies, you must record this, and supply that information to P&W when you return details to them annualy.
