Look what I found in the main St. today!

Was heading to SIL's to get pics of her pregnant belly today.... Was thinking what a nice day it would be to go for a drive out bush....

Turned into the main st and there was this guy crossing the road! I almost ran him over!!

I jumped out to get pics but he was WAY too quick for me.

This was about 50 metres from the lagoon. He ended up in someone's yard in the opposite direction to the laggy.

Now I am assuming it is a water python because once he got behind the fence he lifted his head right up as if to see if I was still following and I could see his bright yellow underbelly.

I know...crap pics, but he was bloody quick! And it was right outside the cop station and I was parked illegally

I was soooo excited tho.

I am now ever MORE keen to do a snake handling course. I felt useless today because I just had to leave it. Hope it made it to the laggy and no one killed it or ran it over.

Better off not to handle it anyways, pretty sure there are certain laws that might land you in a little trouble without the right permits...

Not worth risking the health of your snakes anyways, what if it had OPMV or something...

Awesome find but...

What are you talking about Cheyne?

I don't mean just so I can 'cuddle' it. I mean so I could have removed it from the persons yard and taken it across the road to the lagoon. Out of 'harms' way.

wild snake

with respect- you did the best thing you could- watched it, took pics and LEFT IT ALONE.
no need to save it or move it.
it may not want to be at the lagoon??
that is its home territory, it probably knows it well.
only case for interfering is if it was in danger of being run over.

Totally understand what you mean lynfrog. But not alot of people around here like snakes.

Alot of them just assume it's a brown and kill it...... just in case.
