Mac attack.....!

Snakes certainly do have a very keen sense of smell.

It was feed time last night, so I removed a fuzzy from the freezer. Washed my hands (I thought I washed them well), went to transfer my juv mac from her enclosure to her feeding container and low and behold she could still smell that fuzzy on my finger. She latched onto my finger and proceeded to wrap herself around it for constriction. Wouldn't release either. I used a small cotton bud with a bit of metho on it and placed it near her mouth. This released her mouth from my finger. Still stayed wrapped tightly around thou. I quickly defrosted her fuzzy and fed it too her. She was happy with that and so was I.

NEW PROCEDURE - put snake in feed container prior to removing fuzzy from freezer.

haha, thats funny.

i took Loki fro a walk into the kitchen last night where his rat was in a sealed glad bag in a sink full of warm water and he headed straight for it, i wondered just how well they can smell.

once the rat was defrosted i put it in the middle of the loungeroom floor and it took him about 5 mins to climb off the coffee table and get it,...couldnt believe how much tounge flicking was going on once the rat was in the room,....

I've often wondered the same. If a little snake grabs hold I just wait unitl it lets go. Fortunately, I've only been kissed by a big snake. Drew a lot of blood but I didn't feel a thing. She just wanted me to know she loved me

my water python is great at biting, restricting and not letting go. so i fill the sink up with water and put my hand...or what ever body part he is biting onto into the sink. usually withing 15-20 seconds he lets go and proceeds to swim. much safer than putting things in his mouth....

i find just gently blowing in my childreni's mouth makes him let go, the constricting is a different story. last time i gave up unwrapping him by myself as he just started on the other hand, then tried to get him to go into his hide. He went halfway in and started to uncoil, then decided its easier to drag the hide to my hand and try take a few fingers in.

Patience is the key!!!
