maccie very active lately

I have an adult male spotted that normally hides 90% of the time. When he's out and he see's me, he usually darts back into his hide. But for the past few weeks he has been completely different. He's out cruising the cage and trying to get out all day. Not even as much during the night. And he's getting brazen too. Not only will he not run from me anymore, but he actually comes up to see me. I don't get it.

Is it the time of year? I am in the USA and it's mid/late summer here. I'm not feeding him any differently.

Any thoughts?

Usually this is the behaviour of a pre-breeding male, however because you are in the USA and it's summer i doubt that. What are the enclosure temps like. Maybe it's just getting a bit too hot?

Thanks for the response. It has been a little bit warmer in my apartment. Ambient temp is under 26 C during the day and his warm spot is 32 C on a thermostat.
