I wouldnt use a heat mat for its whole life but i use the ceremic lighting and it does its job good.
Yes, you can keep it in a 3 foot tank for its whole life....

How come? (without knocking you, just asking!!!)
Just curious as i saw a guys Stimmie set up the other day and he said he has been using heat mats and now heat cords for years with no lighting set up.
He has a 2 ft setup with the cords set up so that the cord is close together at the far side and gradually spreads out a bit.He has a thin tile (or wood, can't recall) with the probe of the thermostat sitting on that. I was thinking of doing a setup similar and can anyone tell me is this wrong?

the heating situation also depends on what area you live in..i had mine in a smaller container for about six months but only because he freaked out when i put him in a larger 3 foot enclosure. With the heat situation i only give mine about 6 hours a day through winter but i live in QLD....
