Man i know exactly what a pure bred diamond is and have a heap of photos of primo examples but the fact is that there will always be fluctuation in pattern and colour wether it be in the wild or captive bred.I'm just looking at those pics with wild animals in minde and i see what i see

Out off all the carpets in Australia, I would have to say that dimonds are very plane to look at. IMO

gorgeous snake mr k! i gotta say playwell, i hear what you're saying about them not being rosettes but imo i think you can get away with having a few bands before you start labelling it a cross. my older high yellow diamond has a few bands around her butt but i still think she's pure! and i've had my doubts about my younger diamond too cos his rosettes are quite large. but hey, who knows
on the other hand (just to contradict myself ), i was actually led to believe that the yellow isn't a natural colouration for diamonds and it's not often that you tend to see a yellow without at least a few bands on them (i havent seen them often anyway). maybe diamonds were crossed with jungles somewhere along the line to get the colour? i only say this cos they tend to have larger rosettes as opposed to the smaller ones like playwell's pic which seems to be the norm with the blacks.
jmo, dont blast me for it lol |

It's a hard thing to say pure or not.
I lived in Sydney for 30 years (Sutherland Shire) and the only wild Diamonds ever saw were black ones, and even most of them had few blotches on them. (Not that I saw a lot of them)
Considering there are no carpets pythons around to breed with I would think they would be pure.
I just had a look through a couple of books to see some wild photographed diamonds and they all seem to have mainly small rosettes with an accational larger blotch nearer the head.
So all in all I'm buggered if I know.
If it's a good looking snake and you like what you own, thats all that matters. |
