Male Maculosa Combat

Hi all,
I was hoping some maccie breeders could post some experiences with male combat.
What behaviour and how hostile, what percieved injuries.
Cheers

Any particular reason why you would want to combat male macs or are you just curious?

Ad, mostly they aren't to bad, i combat males a bit even if it's not really needed, it gives them a spring in their step and always mate well after.
Sometimes they can get a bit narky and will bite but normally it's just a whole lot of running around the cage and a bit of a wrestle.
Always watch them while theres two males in the cage, i normally leave them together for about 10mins unless they starting biting. I've never had any injuries from the bite as they are more a nip than anything, if one does bite i will separate them straight away. It would take alot of biting for a maccie to to any damage to another.

Thanks NoOne!
Just curious Ramsayi, I have a spare male and thought why not try so I put them together and then wondered if I should leave them unwatched, how long for etc.

It was interesting, they 2 had been curled together though I havent seen mating, they have been very non-active. The other male livened it up no end, I dont co-house so it was cool seeing 3 snakes together so active. Also I bought a pair but havent sexed them so I thought by putting a known male in would detirmine for sure.
Im giving the other male a go for a while now, lucky girl!

yeah sticking two males together does make things interesting. As NoOne has said keep a close eye on them as they do wrestle vigourously. They get maybe half their body length up off the floor and twist together and carry on.As was said sometimes there is a bit of biting(usually by the dominant one) but all in all the most you will get is a trashed snake enclosure.
Just swapping the males in and out of the females enclosure I find is usually enough to keep the male who is in with the female on the job so to speak.

Thanks Ramsayi, I didnt get that strong a response, the dominant male rose up similar to a strike but with a very tight 's' at the start of his neck/back of head. Moved around like that, big tree snake kind of. He left a trail from his vent. He is coming on shed so I sent him to the mens quarters to feed and shed, i thought a week on/week off would be good.
I will probably combat again after his shed, see how they fire up then.

don't ever leave 2 males ad of any species unsupervised.maccies are generally not to bad but are argueably one of the most bitey.this year i gave a mate a male to spark up his male,he phoned me 2 days later to tell me my male killed his supposed female.he left him with what he thought was a female.it had been biten so hard it had open wounds[the silly dope].i have another male that can't be put with a female if she has been with another male first.she has to kept away from a male for 2 days before introduction or he will attack her because the smell of the preveious male.

Thanks Obee, I was a bit blase about it initially but never thought it would get to that level, i thought maybe some bite marks and stress, as it is not absolutely necessary I shall keep it to a limit ( istill want to observe it some more) . I am hoping the dual males will ensure chances are better, it certainly got things moving.

Hi Ads,

My 2 males went hammer and tong at each other.Well the dominant one was very aggresive.
I had to seperate them pretty much immediately.Old mate just didn't want him there.
I have since sold the male but kept his skins.

I Was wondering if your boy sheds if it is possible you could chuck it in the freezer and i will come grab it.Keen to see if there is much of a reaction if place it in with the pair.I think my skins where to old and most weren't in the freeze.
cheers.

Hi Everyone,
My male mac had shed so I put them back together today with quite a different result.
Combat is full-on! I got some video but dont know how to post it. Just go to my folder and select them from there.
