howdy all, it seems that i have convinced mum to help contribute (financialy) to getting me a woma for my birthday. but this brings up the problem of an enclosure. i have read that people keep them in 4ft X2X2 enclosures, i have an old TV unit that is about 3X2X2, what i want to know is if i built a shelf into the unit to increase the available floor space, would a woma use it?
i recognise that they are predominantly terrestrial animals and that this may be a waste of time and materials so if anyone can contribute advice from their own experiences i would appreciate it.

3x2x2 is fine although 4x2x2 wouldnt hurt! it also depends on the type of womas you plan on keeping, a SA would need 4x2x2 cause they get larger (8ft); where as tanimis only reach 5ft and the boodaries only reach about 3.5-4ft (i think rob told me the average adult boodarie is about 110cm) so in this case 3x2x2 is fine!
good luck! great snakes!!!

Although thought to be true (myself included), there is no absolute proof as of yet that the Boodarie womas are a genetically smaller race than their Tanami cousins. While it is true that the average adult size of the Boodarie womas in the wild are only 1100mm total length ( based on 105 adult specimens ) , there is no data available to my knowledge as to average adult sizes from the wild of the Tanami race to compare and conclude what we suspect to be the case. We do know though, that Boodarie womas have had hatchlings as small as 21gms and 315mm total length and its seems that all hatchling that we have witnessed were indeed smaller than the average length size the quoted ( from memory 425mm ?) by David Barker ( Pythons of the World Australian Pythons ).
Sorry this is slightly off the subject somewhat.
Cheers Dave

I reckon you don't worry about it- ALL woma's are fabulous. You can never stop with just one.

Simone. | thats what im worried about
but would it be worthwhile making a ledge in the enclosure? or would a woma not be likely to use it?

Mine don't have them but one in particular often sits on his hide box which would make him only 5 inches off the floor of the enclosure.
I think your 3X2X2 enclosure will be fine.
Simone.

Back to the enclosure bredli84, I definitely reckon put a shelf (or even two) in there, just low ones though. Having watch my little boy climb I think when you get yours s/he may make some use out of the shelf. That said, my little girl doesn't really seem interested in climbing at all so I guess it all depends on the snake as to whether or not it'd make use out of it... certainly wouldn't hurt though
